Grow A Tree in a bag – Yellowwood Tree Seeds
This pack includes seeds of the South African, indigenous Yellowwood tree. Together with instructions, handmade hessian bag, and soil. The Yellowwood family of trees or the genus Podocarpus was the tree of the year for 1975 and 2018. This tree has a shape of the letter A when it grows to be an adult. We gave the tree a poem to honour the letter A:
The A Tree
The top never stops
Plant a seed, a tree will pop
A shape distinct from a far
One day it will be bigger than a car
A 1st in this language
Slow grower, you’ll manage
This tree seed starter pack is a fun and interactive activity. It has all the basics to get you to grow your own tree from a seed. The big idea is that you grow the tree in the starter pack for 9 months. Once grown, plant your baby tree in an area that you will be able to go back to in 20 years, to give it a hug and say hello. We have the million-tree campaign, whereby we can take the GPS co-ordinates, of where you plant your tree. So that we can map out all the trees that have been planted and grown from seed.
It is South Africa's National Tree. The yellowwood is also protected by environmental laws and prohibits anyone from removing them.
